I recieved my modified mags back in less than 2 weeks. I just tried out and they worked great. THe 2 Bulgies I tried to modify myself didn't work too well. As soon as I can afford it I will send you soem more. Your work is not cheap but the quality is flawless. Keep up the good work. I am one satisfied customer. Regards, HJO name: Dave commentsTony, Ever get anymore shirts or jackets in? i want some as soon as you do!!! Cheers, Dave name: Joe commentsHi, Tony. Did you get a chance to e-mail me the address, to send my waffle mags to you for conversion. If you could I would really appreciate it. Joe name: Roy commentsI saw you had 6mm ppc on your list but did not see any uppers and prices. Is this a good 600 yd round and upper for a ar able to load in the magazine? Are you going to build the new 6.8 upper to compete with Barret? Roy name: Ed Cunningham commentsAny plans to build an AR for 243 WSSM or 25 WSSM. I would like to use my AR for deer but Wash. St requires .24 caliber or better for deer name: hedley parsons commentsYou're fucking retarded BUT then again so am I. name: BUDDY ANGLEN commentstony i sold you your chevy truck the 1500 crewcab from classic chevy i was lookin at the 17 or the 204. i was going to see what keed of deal i could get on one of these bad ass guns. you said you would give me a good deal on one because i gave you a good deal on your truck just let me know. buddy anglen classic chevy 272-1101 or my cell 277-3866. thanks tony. name: shawn commentsI have bought a tromix tr-15 with some modifications and and very impressed, this gun patterns a 3 shot group less than an inch @ 200 yards, withn 12x scope. I am very happy with tonys work. name: Hallmark Small Arms commentsI'd like to post my comments regarding the recent purchase of a Tromix Sledgehammer in 50AE. Let me say that Tony is first class to deal with, a real no B.S. stand-up person. It means alot to me as a dealer when you can trust the person on the other end of a deal. He had the rifle to me earlier then promised and the quality of his work is outstanding. The fit and finish are first rate, beyond what I expected. On the range the rifle functioned flawlessly and as far as the fun factor...WOW, that sucker rocks! The first three rounds down range formed one nice clover shaped hole, and with 1/2 holes I had no trouble seeing it for instant gratification. Recoil really lets you know that you are slingin' some serious lead down range, I am truely impressed. Tony, your a genius for putting the Sledgehammers Rifles together. Keep up the great work. Steve Hallmark Small Arms Richmond VA 804-986-7409 name: Scott M. Barnett commentsYOU! Are a crazy bunch of bastiges who seem to be doing some VERY interesting work with the AR series. Just found your website an I am intrigued with the .440 Corbon load. I shoot a Glock 21, amongst other things, in .400 Corbon and I like it alot! Give me your HONEST opinion, if you are capable, of the pro's and con's of the .458 Socom vs. the .50 Beowolf. I have a couple of unused AR lowers that need something done with them. Surely you fine gentlmengles have opinions, likes, and dislikes. I would personally like to run some at home style testing out to about 600 yds. on both. I hear men with green faces and bad dispositions use the .458 Socom to GREAT effect. I shoot a strange course of fire in matches using my trusty TRG-42 in .338 Lapua Mag, but an inbetweener would be lotsa fun. Lemme know, Im bored!!! Thanks, and have a shoot 'em up kinda day! name: ppp commentspppppp name: Kristofer Barber commentsI reload alot of ammo for my 440 Desert Eagle, and just a little while ago I ran across your sight for your AR rifles, how tough would it be for me to get one from you in ID, and out of curiosity, how tough is it to get a class III permit? Too bad you can't figure out a way to get the 500 SW into one of your rifles, I got bored today and ran a 500 case into my 440 die, it looks like a wicked round, I am curious what the ballistics would be one it. name: LeadMe commentsWhat happened to that nice babe in the bikini? I must say, she did something for me; quite a fine 40 something. name: Daniel Marchel commentsTony, I use Starline 50 alaskan brass and cut it in a 500 linebaugh max. file trim die. I found this to be easier than using 348 brass. of course I'm lazy, so I go the easiest route. by the way have a new handgun cartridge coming out. already have the prototype brass for it. Dan name: Brian L. Anderson commentsHow about a 30 cal. in this case? Or 6mm? name: Tony Rumore commentsThe .458 Encore used a rimmed version of the .458 SOCOM. I made the cases by cutting down .348 Win brass, necked them down to .458, and fire formed. It worked fine. name: LeRoy Archer commentsTony, Am very interested in the rimmed version of the 458 socom. Have a siamese mauser and a P14 that I would like to do something with. What do you think? Thanks, LeRoy. name: Corben commentsVery interested in your sledgehammer rifles, particularly the .458 SOCOM. What's the bullet-drop like on those with the CorBon 300 grain ammunition? Also how does the gun handle in terms of recoil? name: Ryan commentsthat .458 socom is awesome! i want one....only i fi had the money :D name: Ron Robertson commentswhere can i see some pix of the 50AE sized up against the 458 SoCom? Which cal has the most punch at the muzzle? name: couger commentsWhere's the Tromix action girl? How'd I miss her? I love your site and love the Texas bachelor party. name: Jason commentsTony is one helluva guy, I had trouble hunting down a detent spring for my AR. Called him up and he just happened to have one layin' around. He gave me a short tour of the shop and showed off some "toys", even priced some more goodies for my baby. Great service, cool guns. What more do ya need? Cant wait to get my .458 Socom upper, looks like a BLAST.... name: Jason commentsTony is one helluva guy, I had trouble hunting down a detent spring for my AR. Tony can tell you better... Hell he's probably already done one in 50AE... have you seen the 458 Encore on the projects page.... WOW! But as for a T-Shirt...? Tony may have some old ones laying around... I am working on a New Design if cost would allow... it would look like the image on the splash page and on the comment board form post page right above ..... the let it fly button.... -Good Luck... and a bowling wrist brace for the 458 SOCOM AR-Pistol....! I know i want one of those... name: Dave commentsHey guys, Have Tony build you a 458. You won't be disappointed. Quality work, great to work with. Thanks, Tony. Dave name: T W commentsWill a Jackhammer upper function reliably with a AR-15 pistol? Or would the light weight pistol type buffer, recoil spring + guide rod cause fit/function problems? Thanks name: Tim Applegarth commentsYour email link on your web site does not work for me. Please send me your street address. Mail to: P.O. Box 1053 Muskogee, OK 74402-1053 Thank you name: Tony Rumore commentsStripped lowers are $125. Complete with buttstock and all internal parts is $250. The .458 SOCOM recoil is not "like a 12 gauge". It doesn't taste like chicken either. It will hit you like a featherweight 30'06. The recoil is not a slow shove....it's more like a quick smack. It will get your attention. I plan to have T-Shirts available in the near future. The last lot is sold out. Tony Rumore Tromix Corp name: HullBreach commentsJust discovered your site snd Im bloody impressed! I have a question and a request for you. First the question: What is the recoil on the .458 SOCOM comparable to? And the request: You guys should produce t-shirts with your logo! I want one! name: Dave commentsTony, Do you sell the lowers seperately? If so, what are the costs/configurations? Dave name: Justin_P commentsWell, I might be crazy, but I was thinking that that one of those Ruger ultra light compacts would be, well, invigorating in a .458. Plus, it would be an awful lot of KO power in such a small gun. Still, there is still something unique about that .458 in an AR-15 now isn't there? name: Tony Rumore commentsThere have been a couple of bears and a bunch of large hogs shot with the .458, but I don't think there has been anything over 300 pounds or so. I know there was one customer taking his .458 an Elk hunt, but I don't know if he was successful or not. I don't know much about the various bolt actions, but I would assume that any short action with a .308 size bolt face could be made to work. Rebarreling a Weatherby Varmintmaster (22-250) would make a neat little package. name: Justin_P commentsWhat's the biggest animal dispatched witht that .458 to your knowledge? What bolt actions lend themselves best to the .458 Socom? name: Tony Rumore commentsThe 44 magnum was dicontinued due to reliability problems. Only four (4) were ever made. There are no 44 Magnum parts left in stock. name: Dave commentsTony, LOVE my 458 upper!!!!!!! Dave in Wisc. name: anthony mascia commentswhy was the 44mag discontinued ? do you have any parts left name: BEN commentsTony I enjoyed your site and will ask Santa for a Gift Certificate for One of your Sledgehammers. Currently researching a Special Security Project and I have asked my Op's guy if our contract weapons will be standard issue, or Big Boy Toy's. I am considering a Desert Eagle 50AE , And Now I would also like to include one of your SH 50-AE Express, to keep with uniform amunition purchases. I will pass on your site to my Buddies in Alaska. They will Love the Loud Flamethrower Cannons. Watch your Six, Ben name: stevo commentsTony,I just found your bitchin site! I someday hope to own one of these rifles. I've been long thinking about building an AR that had more oomph using some sort of wildcat cartridge. Some of the goofy ideas I've thought of were the 440 necked down to .358 ( I think it would be about like the 35 Remington), or shortening one of the new shorty magnum cartridges to 39mm in both .30 and .35. Think there would be any merit in these, or am I truly as stupid as I look? name: hibvgib commentsre5jsdrthw name: MICHAEL JOSWICK commentsKICK ASS WEBSITE. I WAS LOOKING TO FOR SOMETHING NEW FOR MY WEAPON, AND I THINK I FOUND IT, YOUR .458, AT LEAST YOU GUYS UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF FIREPOWER. AND NOT LOW RECOI, COST EFFECTIVE .22 CONVERSION. MY GIRLFRIEND IS GOING TO PISSED WHEN SHE FINDS OUT THAT I WANT SOMETHING BIGGER AGAIN. THANKS name: MartytW commentsMagazine capacity for the 458 SOCOM in standard magazines: 20 rounder holds 7 SOCOM rounds 30 rounder holds 10 SOCOM rounds 40 rounder holds 15 SOCOM rounds 10 rounder holds 3 to 4 rounds Hope that helps name: K.O. commentsWhat is Magazine capacity for the .458 Socom say in a standard 30 rnd AR Mag.? name: Chris Walker commentsThanks for the quality work on the new TR15, me and the other guys really appreciate the hard work put into them. Now off to the range! What are your recommended break=in procedures, I've read a lot of differing opinions, from firing 100 single shots, cleaning between each, to "naw, you don't need to break it in." I would like your expert opinion. Chris name: magnomark commentsThis is one wild arse board! I've never seen these kind of wildcat calibers before!Somebody(s) have great imagination to come up with these calibers/cartridges/guns!!! name: Hellion commentsFucking Liberals die name: Mary Rogers commentsHoly Crap, what a sexy momma on this page. Man, if I wasn't a woman... whoo hoo! name: doug comments123456 name: Tony Rumore commentsWe have 15 round magazines for the Sledgehammers. If you need more than that, I would suggest you use a different gun. name: Bishop Gantry commentsIm just curious if you ever thought of making something like Beta C-mags or similar high capcity mags for the Sledgehammers? name: John F commentsMilitary LEO name: Marty commentsTony - Using H-108 (mil surp powder) we can get the Rem 300 HP up to 2,050 comfortably, 2,100 if you push it, all in the 16" carbine .... Check this link for some load data that customers have been putting together http://www.mylittlespark.com/ar15/458Socom.html name: Tony Rumore commentsGo to this link for .475 TREMOR load data. http://feistyrooster.com The .458 SOCOM will run the 300gr bullet at 2000fps from a 16" barrel. CorBon loads it down a bit. The 50AE uses a standard magazine, with a spacer block in the front and a different follower. name: Justin_P commentsTony, you come up with some great stuff, I gotta tell ya. When funds become available, I might have to have a sledgehammer. I was wondering, does the .50 AE fire from an unmodified AR-15 Clip? name: Future USMC commentsLol...really sorry bout all this tony. Do you think that a .458 socom rifle/cartridge would be compatible with an AR-15 Beta C magazine (100 rd.) The thought of it gives me goosebumps.... Thanks name: Future USMC commentsOn the specs page, where does the balistic info for the .458 come from (ammo type used). Was Corbon ammo used and would you recommend this ammo. 300 gr. specs page - 2100 fps 2938 energy 300 gr. corbon page - 1900fps 2405 energy. Does barrel length come into play here ? Thank you. name: Future USMC commentsWhat are the ballistic figures for the .475 (velocity/muzzle energy) what advantages and how much more power does it have over the .458 socom. Whats is the price for the full rifle. Where is ammo available for it. name: Tony Rumore commentsThe .475 Tremor is available now. Only one customer has ever ordered one, so I don't have any plans to build another .475 unless I have an actual customer order. name: Future USMC commentsTony, when will the .475 tremor be available (and have its own page on your site?) Rock on and keep up the good work. name: Tony Rumore commentsThere is still no suitable magazine for the 500 SW in the AR-10 either. Typically, magaines for rimmed cartridges are wider in the rear then the front, which allows a back stagger of the rims in the mag, while the neck portion or the rounds single stack. The spring is also moved to the front and the rounds are towed upward by spring pressure on the neck area of the round. The rim section is fairly loose and comes along for the ride. This is a sustantial departure from a conventional AR-10 magazine design. name: mixmaster281 commentsn/a n/a n/a name: SCR1 commentsHow about using the AR10 platform? name: Tony Rumore commentsThe 500 SW rim is too big for the AR-15 bolt. There is also no suitable magazine to feed the 500 SW round in the AR. name: 10mmGuy commentsI'll give a second vote to the .500 I'd hate to buy a S&W but an AR and revolver shootin the same big assed .50 does sound tempting. Is it possible? How does the .500 compare to the .458? Maybe a converted X-frame in .458 instead? Very interesting stuff! Get back in the shop and whip some o' this cool shit out! name: Steve Rainbolt commentsAny thought to an upper for the .50 S&W caliber. Is there any advantage over this one than the .50AE? name: Koz commentsJeremy... I have a 50AE upper... It is a beast! I took my brother out to the range to shoot at some 300m targets… and to hear my older brother shoot… BAM… "Ouch!"… BAM… "Ouch!"… BAM… "Ouch!" I was laughing my ass off! I am still looking for the day I get to try out one of Tony's 458 SOCOM's… My 50AE has been an extremely reliable addition to my collection. I can tell you Tony is the man with the plan… I believe if they ever X-Ray his brain you will find a Eugene Stoner schematic watermarked in his gray matter. I say pony-up and try any one of his Sledgehammers on for size… it is well worth it! name: Jeremy Wharton commentsGreat site!!! I'm a Staff Sergeant in the Marine Corps stationed way out in Kansas. We sit a work during our lunch hour drooling over your site. You know us... nothing pleases us more than blowing shit up!!! Not only do we carry M-16's for a living but most of us own AR-15's as well. We just can't decide which one of your sledge hammers we want first. Keep the craziness coming!!! name: nature223 commentsOk,Tony,Seems your having too much fun here,And It has to stop,Calibers from .20-.475,My my my. We musn't have all these calibers being utilised,We must use only the;proscribed, beaten down, tired, old,Written about to death, ones. However,We the Members of;B.O.R.E.D.(Bored Old Readers Ending Diversity of caliber)may find your methods acceptable,we'll only require one of each caliber weapon, and,About 20,000 rounds of each caliber with which to have fun...Er......TEST!!!,and decide, which has the most compatibility, with the American Citzen's zeal for making boom boom noises,And testing Impact medium. We hope no further emails will be nessesary in which to bring the change about,We await your response,Sincerely, Fudgidy Ol' Curmudgeon name: Robyn Church commentsThe 50 AE sledge is a beast. Just really puts a big smile on the face that lasts at least a week. Full auto in one of these things as just more fun than any human should be allowed to have. Thanks Tony for a great product. name: 458 ron commentsI think the 50AE is my favorite upper. Dont ask me why,but it is! Thanks again Tony, for an awsome sledgehamer! Ron name: Tony Rumore commentsWe are still building quite a few 50AE uppers. In fact, the 50AE uppers have always outsold all the other uppers combined. We will have it around for quite some time. name: Marty Schrader commentsOh, yeah. This is the site I remember. Craps, I wish I coulda grabbed one of the .50 AE Hammers before I had this long dry spell w/o work. Well, maybe next year. You *are* still building Kickers of Ass in .50, right? It would be a real shame if my Desert Eagle had to flop around all alone as my true Terror of the Range firearm. I want to blow some schtuph up! name: MtW commentsIf it's OK, here are some answers to 10mmGuy: Mag capacity of the 50 Beowulf and the .458 SOCOM is the same, although we have not noticed a need to alter magazines. The Beowulf folks recommend that you do ... Bullet selection - we went with .458 on purpose because two years ago, .50 bullets were hard to find. Things have improved, but just about every major manufacturer makes a 458 bullet, and you can get them in bulk. While designed around the 300 gr Barnes X Spitzer, the loads run from 250 gr Barnes XFN to 600 gr Barnes Original with every flavor in between. Energy - the Beowulf is 44 mm long, the SOCOM 40 mm. As such the Beowulf can hold a little more powder and can get a little more steam. Not enough that whatever you hit will notice. Dead is dead. For more info, you can alway check the .458 SOCOM page on our website www.teppojutsu.com name: 10mmGuy commentsHope I don't look like a dickhead for posting this, but I'm looking at your site shoppin' around for "big bastard" uppers. The way I see it, the only real players are the .458 SOCOM and the .50 Beowulf. So what's the advantage of the .458? How do they compare as far as power (ft/lbs), bullet selection, mag cap, etc. Did I read right that you can use standard AR mags without altering the feed lips? Any other things I didn't think of? I wanted a 45-70 lever gun, but after seeing these thumpers I had to rethink. It seems like the way to go for a bear trackin' gun. One thing for sure around here, you fellers sure as hell have the right attitude! I damn near pissed myself reading "shits and Giggles". Don't think I have to worry 'bout you guys sellin' out S&W style! :-) name: Russ commentsNo pussies here Tony. I shoot a 475 Linebaugh. I want a 475max but Ruger 357max frames are hard to come by. I think a 16" 458 upper for my AR will do for now though. name: Tony Rumore commentsHey Russ, When it comes to beer, Tromix has you covered. We have a pool table in the middle of the shop as well. This is a full service establishment. I still have the one and only .458 SOCOM Encore, and I doubt that I will build another one. Not much demand on that beast. Recoil is fairly robust. If you are kind of a pussy, you probably wouldn't care for it. name: Russ commentsI forgot to ask, have you found anyone crazy enugh to pull the triger on that 458 Encore yet? Are they still talking to you? name: Russ commentsTony you are a sick and twisted bastard. I think you'd fit right in with my crowd. We are big boar lovers too as you can guess by my screen name. I'm on deployment now but as soon as I get back I'm ordering a 458 Socom. It sounds like fun. Thanks for the cool toys. Russ P.S. drink a few beers for me cense I can't until next month. name: Mark Newton commentsIt's nice to see someone who puts "fun" back into shooting. Most firearms companies take themselves too seriously. Not Tromix. name: vonbismarck commentsJust bought my first Valmet , was thinking about an Ace folding stock. I like your guns and your creed. I always like the blast and the fire!!! Why else build a 308cal full auto pistol with 1.625 inches of rifleing??? FUN!!! Merry Christmas!!! Wild Bill name: MartytW commentsRichard - The 458 SOCOM has more oomph than the 50AE. Both work in 223 magazines, although the 50AE requires you to install a spacer and a new follower. Both hold 10 rounds in a GI 30, and 7 rounds in a GI 20. Phil - Last time I had coffee on board was with a Marine Sgt. Good to see you back in the action. Have you ever considered pitching your subguns to the military? name: Tony Rumore commentsThere was a bear killed with the .458 SOCOM by a Tromix customer last year. I'll have to dig up the pic. I believe I have a pic of the recovered bullet as well. Personally, I have never killed any bears, but I have certainly killed my share of beers. name: James Staggs commentsMarty, I didn't have a camera, but there was bunch there, I'll see what I can do. I have done it myself and got the idea maybe you could build a lower already set up for it. Would it be possilbe(economically workable) for you to build a lower with a magwell already set up for a Sten mag? If so how much would you charge for it? name: Tony Rumore commentsAt this point, no additionaal stripped Tromix lowers will be offered for sale by themselves. Oh yeh, I'll be sending better pics this year. Deer season open this Saturday. !!! Bob name: Mark-R commentsWas thinking about a pistol upper for my AR-15. The more I thought about it the more I thought that I should stick to the calibers that I have hand guns in. This is .357 Sig., 45 ACP and 44 Mag. I think the 44 Mag would be better suited for a carbine upper for my AR. I wouldn't want to have to buy a nother set of dies, another bunch of powders, etc. to get set up reloading for the not so popular other calibers that you offer. Not that they're not desirable it's just that I've decided to try and standardize and reduce "personel inventory". My ideal upper would be a 14.5" with threaded and pinned compensater to bring barrel lenth up to 16" +/+ (not minus). This would make it feel more like a pistol than a Mag. handgun and should be very shootable. What do you think? Should I go piss up a rope? What are/is magazine availability? What parts are inter-changeable? Do I need a new bolt carrier/bolt or just bolt? would it use the same buffer and spring? Is it compatible with a carbine (collapsable stock) lower? name: Larry Smith commentsHey Tony..........wellcome back. The 440 is shooting great and I need to contact you about a few more of the mag. additions so I can have a few spares. Also, any future plans to build in 5.45x39 uppers? name: Valley Firearms commentsNice to see you back. Keep up the good work!\ JS name: Tony Rumore commentsWe may do the 300 WSM on the AR-10. I already have the chamber reamer and headspace gauges in stock to do it. I am simply waiting for DPMS to deliver one of their AR-10's and then I will tear into it and see about the conversion. Other's have already done it, so it can't be that hard. name: j. anderson commentshey guys, heard through the grapevine you may build a rifle chambered for 300wsm, any truth to this? please let me know, thanx, j. name: Tony Rumore commentsCool....I missed you guys....the long break was nice, but looking in from the outside while everyone was blast'n shit..... I couldn't stand it any longer. I just gotta be making some cool stuff, or life is no fun...ya know what I mean? name: brad macaulay commentsDamn its good to see you back making the big toys! Didnt get an elk this year but there will be some .458 sized holes in several Georgia deer this season! Thanks for building my upper last Christmas!! name: Mike Steen commentsGlad you are back Tony. Good to see you back to earning an honest living. Mike ' name: Tony Rumore commentsWe will be working on an AR-10 upper shortly. The project was originally called off due to the fact the original Armalite AR-10 parts were so damn expensive. DPMS will have their own AR-10 out next month along with all the parts at more reasonable prices. With the availability of the DPMS parts, we are in a better position to build some custom AR-10's that don't cost a fortune. As for calibers, nothing has been defined. name: John Graganta commentsWelcome back! name: Ed Archer commentsTony: Glad to see you back in the game. I have an AR15.com group buy 458 on order from Marty. I bought a 440 complete rifle from another guy -- #112. I bought a 458 upper from another guy. You have me hooked. Any ideas for an upper to go on an AR10 chassis? 444 Marlin? Welcome back. Ed name: Marty ter Weeme commentsWell it's about damn time you stopped drinking beer and farting around and got back to building rifles. At least now I have a place to send all those requests for Valmet parts .... But seriously, glad to see your're back, maybe now I can work on some more cartridge designs .... name: WebGuy commentsTesting form
